Pastor Jennifer Weekes Klein and her family—husband Rusty, daughters Tayler and Kelley and son Josef—began serving Country Club UMC in June 2010 after serving churches in Cameron and Kansas City.
Whether singing, playing the guitar or visually illustrating how we can become as effective as the early Christian church—an “Acts 2 church” in our community—her passion for worship arts and Christian service is generating powerful energy and enthusiasm.
Our Director of Correctional Ministries, Jim Spears has several Gifts of the Spirit: teacher, preacher, singer, coach, always encouraging yet also challenging our “comfort zone”. Jim’s focus is on fostering a path for continued faith development, for long-time and new members, through scripture, experience, prayer and discussion.
Our Director of Music is Jacob Lowry, who received his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from Sam Houston State University and has experience in Music Ministry, Choral Conducting and as a soloist. Jacob works as a Middle School Choir Director and Teacher in Lawrence. His wife, Laura, is studying at UMKC in the Master’s Program of the Conservatory of Music.
Phyllis Curtis, CCUMC organist and pianist, has served as organist and director of music at various churches in Manhattan, Wichita, and the Kansas City area. She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master of Music degrees from Kansas State University. She has taught elementary classroom music in the North Kansas City, Manhattan, and Wichita public schools, and is a licensed Kindermusikinstructor.
Interim Office Administrator Laura Lowry assists our clergy and laity in implementing our programs and ministries. Laura is a member of the adult and bell choirs at CCUMC and is a co-leader of the Children’s Choir. She is a graduate student at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at UMKC.
